Sample photo, not final Following Jesus & growing
A road, not a course.Growing with Jesus and with each other
Faith is a road, not a starting point. We help each other grow: spiritually, emotionally, in everyday life. Discipleship is not a programme you complete. It is a relationship, a shared road where we learn from Jesus and from one another. Draft, for review
Four things
The Bible
Read it, alone and with others. Start with a Gospel. Ask what it says, what it means, and what you will do with it. The Bible is our highest authority, so we keep going back to it.
Prayer
Talk with God every day, in your own words. Pray with others in a home group and at the prayer meeting. Expect him to answer.
Baptism
Jesus told his followers to be baptised. It is a public “yes” to him: going under the water as a sign that the old life is buried, coming up into a new one. If you have decided to follow Jesus and have not been baptised, talk to us. [TODO: how and when baptisms happen at HOM International]
People
Nobody grows alone. A home group, a friend who asks how you really are, someone further down the road who walks with you. We make these relationships on purpose.
Honestly
Growth is not a straight line. And nobody here pretends it is
We talk about repentance, new life, baptism and the leading of the Spirit as everyday reality, not theory. We also talk about doubt, failure and starting again. There are no passive believers and no perfect ones.
